We provide opportunities for contract and collaborative research programmes with our world-class academics, who work at the forefront of research in 2D materials and can help you develop novel technologies, products and processes.

Project-based research

Contract research is generally suitable for specific challenges, where confidentiality is important and the nature of the problem and possible solutions are directed by a contracting company. Collaborative research programmes, which may involve several companies with funding from research councils and/or charities, are generally jointly devised and managed and have more flexibility about the dissemination of results.

CASE projects

Industrial Cooperative Awards in Science & Technology (CASE) provides funding for PhD studentships where businesses take the lead in arranging projects with an academic partner of their choice.

The aim of these awards is to provide PhD students with a first-rate, challenging research training experience, within the context of a mutually beneficial research collaboration between academic and partner organisations, for example, industry and policy making bodies.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is a grant-funded scheme that provides a postgraduate researcher or recent graduate with an opportunity to work in a company and transfer knowledge, technology or skills that were not previously available to that company. A project typically lasts between six and 36 months, during which time a dedicated academic provides close and effective support to the graduate to guide them in delivering successful outcomes and competitive advantages.
